Linda Sue’s childhood Sabbaths were like mine and it seemed to be much easier to make happen in those days. I remember that no shopping was done then, no errands run. Nowadays we too often try to catch up on these things on Sunday afternoon.
I noticed Alice Waters quote above, would love to know more about that!
I will pray for you, Sandra, hope you’re okay and if not that you will be soon.

Dewena, thank you so much, prayers greatly appreciated! Physically, I’m fine but working hard these beautiful Autumn days. I’m prepping the farm, house, vehicles for winter; buying and storing hay (which always requires re-arranging the barn…sigh. Hopefully, this is the year the barn is put to rights.) and helping Mom/Dad, siblings, friends, church. I’m so much busier than I was at the other farm, it seems I’m always behind.
I’m not sure who Alice Waters is/was but agree with her statement. It’s (fairly) easy for me to observe the Sabbath, although there are times I stop at the store for a gallon of milk before coming home. Make trips count, eh? Generally, I go to church, come home, feed everyone (sometimes myself! lol) then read, hold down the porch, maybe play in the studio, almost always write cards/notes/letters to be mailed on the morrow. It’s a better life when I take time to rest my body, mind and spirit.

good reminders – I recall the Sundays of my youth – when hardly anything was open as far as stores – no malls or even grocery stores – just a few “convenience stores” or gas stations with a refrigerated section with milk, eggs and a few other items. We focused on church, familiy and rest – sweet memories. A gift of rest – Sabbaths are so needed and so rarely taken seriously – IMHO
Will be proud to pray for you dear friend – always.

Linda Sue, our growing up Sabbaths were wonderful and when we make good choices, can be again. My two nephews, in their 30’s, both observe the Sabbath by spending it with their family. They enjoy time with their children, their wives and rarely do I hear of them leaving home unless it’s to visit. Both young men are well rounded, polite, considerate and are raising their children the same way. The blessings continues to the next generation and it’s a gift for everyone.
