You’re all Winners, but…

 ~ quilting bee ~

the sheep stamp is going to Kathy in KY, the quilting package to Robin at the Knittin’ Coop and the yarn to Barbara at Moore Whimsies.  There are more things to give away -books, bag, tea, cup and saucer, etc.- so stay tuned.

The above quilt is a product from one of our quilting bee ladies where we meet Thursdays nights and everyone brings a project and some bring a snack to share. It’s a great time and they have taught me a lot over these past three years. If you want to see a bit about where we meet, visit Thompson Valley Community Center.

Is anyone else feeling a bit blue about the current state of affairs? Is it just me? I think I need to pray more and read more Bible to shake this feeling of the world has gone mad. The folks in Arizona and Texas are doing the job the Feds won’t do and US citizens are paying the price…with their livelihood and land; it hasn’t come to their lives yet but it looks like that’s only a matter of time.

The Cypress Times starts off their story thusly, “The bloodbath continues along our southern border and now word is coming in that Los Zetas, the highly trained killers formerly with the Gulf Cartel, have crossed into the United States and taken over at least two ranches in the Laredo, Texas area. I am receiving word that the owners of the ranches have evacuated without being harmed. …”

Didn’t Obama say, during his campaign, he was going to bring home our military in Afghanistan his first year in office? That didn’t happen and now I know why. If our military is there, they can’t be here…on US soil, protecting men and women, boys and girls…US citizens from this act of war on US soil! I don’t claim to be an expert on world affairs but, as Aunt Bonnie used to say, ” ‘Deed, I believe I could do as well if not a bit better.” God help us all!

Election day is coming up and I urge you to VOTE! Familiarize yourself with the issues, do NOT listen to what others say on topics…read and learn for yourself! Yes, it takes time but this is YOUR life and the future of generations to come; you owe it to yourself and them to make intelligent decisions based on hard core information. Please, vote.

Blessings ~ gifts ~ voting ~ Texas ~ prayer ~ Scripture ~

Dei Gratia,
Sandra

    Hi Sandra,

Congrats to your winners and lovely guest post on Misha's blog. (I am really behind on my visiting – just catching up!)

You are saying what so many of us are thinking my friend. Here in California we are in MAJOR trouble, in large part due to the issues with the illegals.

It seems that those of us CITIZENS who were born here along with our parents & grandparents, etc. are the ones who now have no rights. It used to be an honor and an acoomplishment to gain your citizenship – now it's just a joke. My grandfather refused to teach his kids and grandkids French because he was so proud to be an American and Americans speak ENGLISH. He'd flip out if he were still alive today.

It is a scary state and country to be living in right now and I don't see it getting better any time soon.

Take care and keep doing what you do 🙂

    Hey Sandra!

First, thanks for trying to add me to your Cozy Reads. I wonder if it's the template I used that is keeping it from being added. I know that sounds odd, but it's an odd template that doesn't even show the "navigation bar" that blogger has at the top of the page. I'm going to change it soon (because it's not user friendly; I do LOVE the layout…). Perhaps that might help.

I hope all is well. I'll be starting back with posts soon. I just haven't had the energy to read/comment/post lately. This job saps me of all my energy and strength. Sad but true. But I'm soldiering on until something better comes along. Believe me, we're looking!

    Love,
    Jen

Just a quck fact check here. When Obama was campaigning, we were still in Iraq. That's where he promised to get the troops out of. He then increasd the number of troops in Afghanistan, which Bush had (mostly) pulled out of.

Very wise words! It's funny, but all those people who voted for Obama…I can't find any of them now. God help us! I don't want to freak out or anything, but I am very uncomfortable in this unsettled position…

… & a Democrat judge today really fowled up AZ's attempt to make things right for the borders, their city, their state.

We shall make our statement in Nov., trust me. God will take care of us & lead us all in the right direction … I believe this.

    Have a great day!

    Congrats to the lucky winners!

You are completely right. We all need to read and learn about the candidates that are running in our districts and states and VOTE in Nov! Do not rely on network news, but read about and ask questions of the candidates that are running.

Just look at what has happened today in AZ!
Keep praying and know that God in in control.

    Hugs,
    Lynn♥

Yes, the current state of affairs in this country does concern me very much and it does seem the inmates are ruling over the asylum.

    Congratulations to the winners!

Thanks, Sandra, for the sheep stamp. And no you're not the only one who is concerned about the state of affairs in this country. I put a blog-post about some non-electric items, and put that the thing they have in common is a mystery. Next week I will find out if I am able to rent a one-room cabin with a loft, from a Mennonite family in south-central KY. I'm trying to escape some of the turmoil, and become somewhat self-sufficient. The cabin doesn't have electricity or a bathroom; it has a wood cookstove that doubles as a heat source for the winter. It sits so far back in the woods that you can't see the lights from the Mennonite homes at night. I'll continue with my blog, and hopefully can get reception to use a Blackberry, and also go into town to the public library for wireless internet for my laptop. I'll put more up on my blog after I meet the family, hopefully next week. But I am disgusted with this Gov't. I used to be Democrat, and am registered as such, but my views have been changing alot as I've gotten older. I will be sure to get my drivers license changed when I move down south so that I will know the location where I can vote. Sandra, if you could, please email me and tell me about Cap and Trade that you mentioned in a comment on my blog – I'm not familiar with it. Take care All, and pray without ceasing. From KY.

I want to start off by saying "THANK YOU" so much for drawing my name as a winner! I know I'll just love that yarn.

I too vote and I too am very concerned about the current state of affairs in this great country of ours. Have people actually gone mad? Unless you're a native american, then your ancestors immigrated here from another country. They obeyed the immigration laws and learned to speak english and there are a lot of current immigrant who have done what's necessary to obtain their citizenship, so why isn't anything being done to stop the illegals? If we went to another country, we would have to obey their laws!

We are just a few of the hardcore, conservative repulicans in our county. Even our local newspaper is called "The Democrat"!

Not quite ywo weeks ago the county republican president was murdered "gang style" (i.e. shot in the head and back several times), and then his body was put in the trunk of his car and it was set on fire. He had just left repub HQ. My goodness….
He was a good man. Opinionated ( arn't we all :), tough, and very loud and vocal about his views on the current admn in Washington.

Needless to say our county is a little on edge. Republican campaign signs are being set afire in the front yards of those who support them. We have taken ours down. We fear for the safety of our animals…

Sometimes I just have to shake my head and wonder what leads people to commit acts such wrath. I pray they find the person(s) who killed our friend Jim soon. For his lovely wife, it cannot be soon enough.

Yes, we will be voting. Always have, always will! xo, misha

Leadership without principles never can get it right – listening to polls and "czars"(doesn't that word make your stomach churn?!) and technical/experts instead of doing what is clearly right – well as I was taught in college – with our form of government – people get exactly the government they deserve – of course believers can always listen to 2 Chronicles :
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Congrats to the winners! Sandra, you are not alone in being apprehensive. You are correct about the peril we are in at home while our troops are away. I have to ask, where is the militia? In the beginning we the people were taxed to support the militia that would protect us.

I too wish this war would end. My husband is currently on his last tour of duty and serving his 36th year in the Army. His tour ends December 21 and I can't wait so he can retire. You can be sure I will vote!
