“Why should we think upon things that are lovely? Because thinking determines life. It is a common habit to blame life upon the environment. Environment modifies life but does not govern life. The soul is stronger than its surroundings.” ~ William James ~

I'm writing that one down on my hand – in permanent ink – for when I get in trouble for speaking my mind. Often too often.

Could you direct some hummers my way, Sandra? 🙂 xoxo

These are beautiful and important exhortations to guard our thoughts, to pay attention to what is in our hearts. I also love Philippians 4:8 – one of my favorite verses!

Thank you for this wonderful Sunday-Post, dear Thistle!
I love Philippians 4:8 VERY much.
We pray in our church every Sunday:
"So let us confess, that we have transgressed with thoughts, words and dees."
Since short time I try to watch my thoughts better, and whwn I hear a bad one, I send a good one after! A good trick 🙂

I go back to Phil. 4:8 a lot. It's really helped keep my thoughts from dwelling on vain imaginations.

Oh, I have missed my visits here at Thistle Cove…
Some of these quotes made me laugh out loud…Merton…Barzan…but Bourget's will be the one I ponder today…and probably share on Facebook this week! Thank you, Sandra…

I am back to blogging and a new business. Your little cove is the first place I went. I can't tell you how much it inspired me this morning. I am going through the lesson of learning how to be happy under any circumstances…God has been faithful and it is just a matter of maturing. Becoming more patient with things I have no control over. Learning to Put Him first in all things. I will be having a give away this week and wanted to make sure you knew about it. It will be for a gift certificate in my shop. Please stop by and let me know what you think…this is the hardest part…putting it out there. I would really value your opinion.
Have a blessed day,
Karen Hoida
