“God is in charge of His universe. That He desires to use our prayers to accomplish His will is breathtaking. Without our assurances of God’s sovereignty, our prayers would be weak. How could we count on a God who isn’t sovereign to offer us help in time of need? Our great strength in prayer, then, is not dependent so much on us as it is dependent on our God who, because of His sovereignty, is able to answer our prayers.” ~ Nick Harrison ~
“Sin is cosmic treason. Sin is treason against a perfectly pure Sovereign. It is an act of supreme ingratitude toward the One to whom we owe everything, to the One who has given us life itself. Have you ever considered the deeper implications of the slightest sin, of the most minute peccadillo? What are we
saying to our Creator when we disobey Him at the slightest point? We are saying no to the righteousness of God. We are saying, “God, Your law is not good. My judgement is better than Yours. Your authority does not apply to me. I am above and beyond Your jurisdiction. I have the right to do what I want to do, not what You command me to do.” ~ R. C. Sproul ~
“When you go through a trial, the sovereignty of God is the pillow upon which you lay your head.” ~ C. H. Spurgeon ~
“In the absence of justice, what is sovereignty but organized robbery.”
~ Augustine of Hippo ~
“That which should distinguish the suffering of believers from unbelievers is the confidence that our suffering is under the control of an all-power and all-loving God. Our suffering has meaning and purpose in God’s eternal plan, and He brings or allows to come into our lives only that which is for His glory and our good.”
~ Jerry Bridges ~
“God removes the sin of the one who makes humble confession,
and thereby the devil loses the sovereignty
he has gained over the human heart.”
~ Saint Bernard ~
“Divine sovereignty is not the sovereignty of a tyrannical despot, but the exercised pleasure of one who is infinitely wise and good! Because God is infinitely wise, He cannot err, and because He is infinitely righteous, He will not do wrong. Here then is the preciousness of this truth. The mere fact itself that God’s will is irresistible and irreversible fills me with fear, but once I realize that God wills only that which is good, my heart is made to rejoice.” ~ Arthur W.Pink ~

Hi Sandra, I've not been by your blog in some time and was shocked by the disaster you've endured with your freeze/flood in your house… Wish I lived close by I'd come give you a hand… Thank you for being faithful to keep posting on your blog.. mine has suffered neglect for about 6 months… not sure where it is going. Part of me would like to turn a corner and begin a new blog of some sort, but not sure about that either. So for now I just post to Facebook and Instagram. Hugs my friend! (I have Staghorn Lichen soaking in an ammonia/water solution, thank you, I'm excited to see the results, for dying silk ribbon, handmade paper etc.).

So many good reminders here. Thank you, Sandra! Love from a weak, pitiful, faithless reader. <3

I especially like the Sproul and Pink quotes. So many are afraid to trust God's sovereignty. They don't believe in His complete goodness. Thanks for sharing!

So many don't read the Holy Bible and have NO clue what God says about any/every thing! Then, they say…"In my opinion…" as if that matters! Bible believing Christians don't have opinions – that's a world view – Bible believing Christians should say, "What does the Bible say…". Lisa, I'm with ya!

My "opinion" hasn't done much for me! I also don't care for the comment, " I'll hold a good thought for you" I prefer my Almighty Gods actions….we humans are not in charge.

Hi Dewena – yep, the pipes froze, burst, thawed and the resulting mess was epic! I took a few precious seconds to send out a Sabbath Keeping call for PRAYER and am confident those prayers are what kept me from being crushed as I ran into/out of the dining room saving spinning wheels, sewing machines, fabric, etc. More than once, as I grabbed something, the turned to run, as I vacated that space, the ceiling crashed down where I'd stood. God was/is good…no injuries to life, only possessions. God IS good! The house can be repaired and the loss of possessions is minimal. Now I'm caught up in the insurance adjuster working on his bonus…at my expense. Yes, the love of money is the root of all evil but I only have to answer for my actions and words. Thank you for your prayers…needed, welcomed and appreciated. This too shall pass.

Sandra, as you know I've just returned to blogging after a month or more and came here to visit you when you left your very sweet and spot on comment on my blog. I was about to leave a comment on this Sabbath post when something told me to go back and back and back until I knew something was wrong. My heartbeat seemed in my throat as I kept thinking, no, no, please don't let it be her amazing house. And then to read about it happening…..of my sweet blog friend, I'm so very sorry. I feel stunned and completely caught up with the impossibleness of it all. Yes, I'm so grateful that you are alive but so sad that it happened at all and so sorry to know how hard you must have worked since then. And all that must remain to be done.
All of this of course makes each Sabbath Keeping post like a little miracle in itself. I know we belong to a Great God and you have not only functioned since this happened but rested in His love for you. You, my friend, will be in my daily prayers and in my hopes for your future. Sending love and thanks for all the wise words you've had for me in the past,
Dewena
