“Use your eyes as if tomorrow you would be stricken blind. … Hear the music of voices, the song of the bird, the mighty strains of an orchestra, as if you would be stricken deaf tomorrow. Touch each object as if tomorrow your tactile sense would fail. Smell the perfume of the flowers, taste with relish each morsel, as if tomorrow you could never smell and taste again. Make the most of every sense; glory in all the facets of pleasure and beauty which the world reveals to you.” ~ Helen Keller ~
“We should live each day with a gentleness, a vigor, and a keeness of appreciation which are often lost when time stretches before us in the constant panorama of more days and months and years to
come.” ~ Helen Keller ~
“If everything is under control, you’re going too slow.” ~ Mario Andretti ~
“Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~
“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of those.” ~ George Washington Carver ~
“A very small percentage of the people in this world will actually experience and live today. So many people will be stuck on another day, another time that traumatized them and caused them to spiritually stutter so they miss out on this day.” ~ Steve Maraboli ~
Once the question of why we’re here has been settled, we can focus on while we’re here. Today, each of us is one step closer to death. Make today count, live like you meant it knowing God’s blessings surround you.

Sandra-Such good advice in each of these quotes. Thanks for sharing them!
Oh I wish I had taken seriously the admonitions of the older people to enjoy the days at hand because they will fly away more quickly than I could ever anticipate ( or believe ) when I was young. The old adage about youth being wasted on the young is so true. But only the young lack the vision and experience to know this, thus giving them the wisdom in their old age to acknowledge it. 🙂
Thank you Sandra for posting these beautifully affirming words. Blessings to you for the new year. 🙂
I loved reading these quotes and poems. Good reminders to not live in the past or the future xx
The George Washington Carver quote is my favorite.
Okay, your post settles it. I'm walking past my dirty house and going to the lake to take in the day.
Best to you.
the longer Emerson quote has now been printed off and about to go on my refrigerator door – I live too often in the land of shoulda, coulda, woulda and truly each day is a new chance to get it right!
Thanks as always dear Sandra – well done today!
I loved your quotes . . . Helen Keller . . . I have always appreciated her profound words.
I realize I do not seize the moment nearly enough! I wish I had this "built-in reminder" to do it every single day. Thanks for this day's reminder, Sandra.I never make New Year's resolution, because I know I know I won't keep them, but this is something more than a resolution–this is a good old way of life that I think our grand parents knew instinctively!
Dear Sandra, You are so right; these words hold truth and strength. Thank you for reminding me to seize the moment.
Hugs, Noreen
I needed to hear this today.
Abigail is cute. (I'm partial to fuzzy faces.) ~:)
Yes, live for the moment! In fact LIVE IT UP! You are so right…this moment in time is really all we have! MAKE THE MOST OF IT! Aloha
"Today, each of us is one step closer to death. Make today count, live like you meant it knowing God's blessings surround you." Precious words to take to heart, Sandra. Thank you for sharing them.
Yep, you're right – Today is the day, yesterday is a past and tomorrow could never happen. Hugs
Beautiful post-hugs
Kathy
Helen Keller's life is such an inspiration to me due to mother's blindness. These are very wise quotes. Ever mindful of God's blessings and the beauty all around, I cherish each day. Thank you for a lovely post.
A beautiful way to start my day. Thank you Sandra.
These reminders brought tears to my eyes…and determination to my heart…I so needed this today!
I love all of these quotes!
Lovely to hear from you. You sound to love in a lovely part of the world.
Yes, losing a partner suddenly like that must be so devastating. I had six months notice for losing my first husband to cancer twenty years ago – we had time to settle everything and say all that we wanted to say. He died peacefully and I couldn't be sad because it had all gone so comfortably for him.
Then I met the farmer and we married a couple of years later and have had twenty happy years together.
I am glad to hear that you have thrown yourself into all things to do with farming. We never know what lies just around the corner do we?
Please call again.
