Sabbath Keeping

by Sandra Bennett

“I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.”
~ Isaiah 48:10 ~
and
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.”
~ Isaiah 41:10 ~

“Whatever befalls me in this vale of tears, I know that He has “chosen” me.”
~ C. H. Spurgeon ~
“God is a witness that cannot be sworn.” ~ Samuel Beckett ~
“I cannot conceive of a God who rewards or punishes his creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious in ourselves. An individual who should survive his physical death is also beyond my comprehension, nor do I wish it otherwise; such notions are for the fears or absurd egoism of feeble souls.” ~ Albert Einstein ~

“Earth is crammed with heaven
and every common bush afire with God;
But only he who sees, takes off his shoes,
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries,
And daub their natural faces unaware.”
~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning ~
“We are all lepers. Even if we hide our sores under the finest clothes, and lie to each other to convince ourselves that we are healthy and happy… Forgetting the only real reason we should be happy; that God loves us despite the sores we hide. God loves us so much that He became one of us, and was nailed naked to the cross, showing His sores to the world.”
~ Saint Francis ~
“If you want the fire of God,
you must become the fuel of God.”
~ Tommy Tenney ~

“God loves each of us as though there were only one of us.” ~ Saint Augustine ~
“God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” ~ C. S. Lewis ~

“There are three stages in the work of God:
impossible, difficult, done.”
~ James Hudson Taylor ~

“Keep your lives free from the love of money
and be content with what you have,
because God has said,
“Never will I leave you,
Never will I forsake you.”
~ Hebrews 13:5 ~

If you’d like a name added to the prayer list, please let me know. Names will be kept for one week unless you give the name again prior to that week’s Sabbath Keeping. Around the world, people are praying.

Love all the quotes Sandra! Would you please add both my sisters, Angela & Debbie to your prayer list. Both girls took hard falls in the last two days and are all boogered up. Thanks! You are a blessing to me!

It's been a busy week and I'm just now getting around to reading this week's Sabbath Keeping but maybe I need it more today. I have often heard God's megaphone even though I much prefer to hear Him when He whispers.

Poor Einstein. So wise but so foolish.

These sentences fit so perfect to the contents I feel and work in this fasting period – and not only then.

Lovely photo with the cock in the snow-rock!

Sorry I'm a bit late to the party, but I just wanted to pop over and say how uplifting it is to come here and begin my week with all these awesome quotes and verses.

Hi Sandra – had to giggle. In reply to your request to "fire that teacher"… wonder if they'd let us do that tomorrow, the day AFTER Texas Independence Day?

I think that'd be a GREAT celebration! We don't need people like that in Texas! Or anywhere in the states for that matter!

I do enjoy your quotes and have benefited for such a long time by being included in your prayers. Good day for me today – sweet worship at church and love of my friends –

You always find such good quotes, but this week there are some I just LOVE!

Please remember my dad Wayne in prayer. The first round of cancer treatment was so successful that it appears he will not have to have the second one and may have surgery to remove the shrunken tumor this month! I am hoping to be able to fly down to be with my folks in TX if that happens.
