“Don’t let the song go out of your life
Though it chance sometimes to flow
In a minor strain; it will blend again
With the major tone you know.
“What though shadows rise to obscure life’s skies,
And hide for a time the sun,
The sooner they’ll life and reveal the rift,
If you let the melody run.
“Don’t let the song go out of your life;
Though the voice may have lost its trill,
Though the tremulous note may die in your throat,
Let it sing in your spirit still.
“Don’t let the song go our of your life;
Let it ring in the soul while here;
And when you go hence, ’twill follow you thence,
And live on in another sphere.”
Dear Father,
I understand why Aunt Bonnie married again and I know why Aunt Esther didn’t. Joy is foreign soil and happiness a shallow pool but contentment and even some peace are cozy comfort against the ills of the day. Thank You for the gift of one of Your sons and for the time You gave him to spend with me. Father, bless Your name for the legacy Dave left, for the knowledge, wisdom and ability to take care of me long after he’s gone. Even so, Abba, I am heartsick.
Father, thank You for the blessings, known, unknown, past, present and yet to come. For the lessons both harsh and sweet You’ve lain at my feet. Father, You know I’m willing but only with Your help can I overcome me and get out of my own way. I’m guilty of freezing in place, afraid of moving forward, of wanting to see the finish line when it’s the journey preparing me for Home. Abba, please give me the strength to take the next step, having faith of my hand in Yours. I don’t want to be carried; I only want to walk hand in hand.
