Very Important…it’s been so long since I’ve updated, I’m starting from ground zero. If you’d like to receive blog updates, please sign up again. This is a re-do with many exciting posts with useful information to come.
This is a partial list of available funding and grants in Virginia as well as throughout the USA. If you don’t live in VA, you could look for similar organizations in your own state. The first listing contains many links for various types of agriculture producers; some link producers with consumers doubling the impact.
The VA Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, or VDACS, offers reimbursable grants. Your state Department of Agriculture probably does as well.
The American Farmland Trust is throughout the USA and offers varied projects and initiatives for funding.
SARE, or Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education is for the southern USA, primarily the southeast.
As I find various organizations that offer funding via grants or initiatives, I’ll post them. Unfortunately, some of the specific organizations deadlines have passed but peruse the information and consider what you could apply for in 2025.
List of Ag Funding in VA has perhaps a dozen, or more, various programs for grants and initiative funding, here.
VA Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services – The AFID Infrastructure Program is focused on awarding reimbursable grants primarily for capital projects at new and existing food hubs, farmers’ markets, commercial kitchens and other value-added facilities such as those used for processing and packaging meats, dairy products, produce, or other Virginia-grown products. Small farmers, food producers, local food systems advocates and others interested in building their community’s local food and farming infrastructure are encouraged to learn more about the program and work with their localities to identify and develop suitable projects. Personal update – Thank you for keeping up with my blog; here’s a quick update as to why I’ve been negligent and slow to post. End of December 2022 I had a heart attack, followed by Mom dying in early Spring. Mid summer began a series of surgeries from which I’ve yet to recover and, in fact, will probably have one more surgery before finally stopping.
I promised a post on 3 Steps to Naming Your Farm, Home, Homestead, Ranch. My goal is to post that by first week in December. There are other posts in the works – How to Increase Farm Income, Vendor Forms for Farm Events, Festivals, etc., Where to Market and Publicize Events and a host of others. Other plans include videos and your patience is needed as my breathing and speaking is a very real struggle but if you’ll be patient with me in delivering the information, I’ll do my best to give you the information. If you haven’t subscribed to e-mail updates, please do that now.
May your Thanksgiving and Christmas be blessed with good things, even if you have to make them yourself, and may your New Year’s be safe.

So glad to see an update from you, Sandra! You are clearly that person walking out of the flames carrying buckets of water; I am so sorry to hear of your heart attack, surgeries, and mother. I’m still here after all these years!
