When Things Go Wrong…

by Sandra Bennett
Encouragement

10 Feb

Today was Spring. Not spring like but Spring and at 64 degrees F (18C) with sun shine and a feeling all’s right with the world. Don’t you like the Elvis quote? Just a reminder trials and tests happen and it’s life happens daily. Although, as Daddy told me earlier today, “Sunday is going to be a whopper (and he doesn’t mean burger king) because it’s going to snow and be cold.” Oh well. February is the shortest month at about three years, eh?

I feel like someone needs encouragement and laughter; read on.

I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.” Agatha Christie ~ and it is, isn’t it?

“Do the next thing.” Elizabeth Elliott whose husband, Jim, was killed by the Huaorani people of Ecuador when he approached them as a Brethern Christian missionary. When discouragement or depression strikes, it’s often difficult to know what to do and I always find Mrs. Elliott’s quote to be comforting. Sometimes all I need to do is “the next thing” and it helps.

It does sometimes feel like this, doesn’t it? At least it does to me. I’m so willing and have so great a faith. Until it’s actually called upon and then I’m like OH &^%$/!! Not all the time, mind, but sometimes. What about you?

This is historical hysterical! I’m sitting here laughing out loud. Can’t you just imagine it? Oh no? Seriously, you can’t imagine? (One of us is weird and I don’t think it’s me.) Thanks to Karen for sending me the two above…I needed that laugh!

Here’s another one for all those folks who think svelt is better than Renaissance figure.

This last one is a huge file and no idea how to smallerize it, if, indeed, that’s a word which we all know it isn’t. Except it is now. This is my/your life after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (how to do that here).

Hopefully, you’ve enjoyed and had a good laugh. Laughter is good medicine and free. God has a sense of humor; at least He does in my life. There are countless times I’ve had a plan and God laughed as He misdirected my steps. I’ve learned to laugh at myself and it makes life easier although people tend to gawk at me in the store when I’m reading coffee mugs or pillows then burst into hilarious laughter. This last one I printed off and taped to the office wall.    It reminds me Who is really in charge.

love, peace and grace to you…it’s free. Take it.

I do agree with Agatha! Life is a grand thing! Do the next thing has gotten me through some rough days and I adore the cauliflower put down. It took me awhile to figure out the T-Rex (is that what he is?) picture, my eyesight is getting so bad I have to pick up the magnifying glass even on my laptop now but yes I hooted at that one. They’re all good, Sandra, thank you! Hope your snow prediction is beautiful and safe if it came true.

My favorite here was the “long groove” cartoon. I did laugh out loud at most of them, though. Thank you, Sandra!

Gretchen, yours is the other blog I can’t comment on and it’s frustrating. Ellen’s is the other. No clue why I can’t comment but I do read them.
