Sabbath Keeping ~ Friendship

by Sandra Bennett

26 May

“There are “friends” who destroy each other but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.”              ~ Proverbs 18:34 ~

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, “What! You too? I thought I was the only one.” ~ C S Lewis ~

“There are two reasons you need to know who your home team is. First, you need to know who they are because they need you. These are the people you visit in the hospital no matter what. These are the ones who will tell you their secrets, who get themselves a glass of water without asking when they’re at your house. These are the people who cry when you cry. These are your people, your middle-of-the-night, no-matter-what people.

The second reason you need to know who your home team is, is because then you know who your home team is not. Everyone else is everyone else. Each of us have a finite amount of time and energy. You can give yours to your home team. Or you can spend it haphazardly on an odd collection of people who need something from you because you don’t want to say no to them.”         ~ Shauna Niequist, Savor ~

“There’s not a word yet for old friends who’ve just met.” ~ Jim Henson ~

“Don’t make friends who are comfortable to be with. Make friends who will force you to lever yourself up.” ~ Thomas J. Watson ~

“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.” ~ Albert Schweitzer ~

“It is not a lack of love but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.” ~ Nietzsche ~

“Friends are those rare people who ask how we are then wait to hear the answer.”                                ~ Ed Cunningham ~

Peter, James and John were Christ’s inner circle ~ “Jesus took with him Peter, James and John and lead them into a high mountain apart by themselves.” ~ Mark 9:1-8 ~

oh Anita…bless you! I don’t know if it’s just me or my age or energy level but it takes *hours* to write a blog post. Perhaps if I’d stop proof reading so many times…lol.

Have missed your posts but understand that Spring is plenty busy on the land! Praying for “good friends” to surround the both of us; friends steeped in His Word that will hold us accountable!

Oh thank you! Spring has been busy and am now in position to assist elderly parents…90+ Dad and 84+ Mom. It makes for weary and short days.

Still waiting to see what friends we’ll be making in our new area. Maybe we’ll find the re-kindling kind.

Maybe I shouldn’t say but I think finding and making friends is difficult. Worthwhile but difficult.
