Good Afternoon, Sandra. I very much appreciate you stopping by the blog. I did not buy any cornmeal at the gristmill this week but I sure do love cornbread. It was one of mother's favorite treats! lol
Thank you for sharing these quotes and I wish you a blessed weekend.

Hi Sandra .. it was so so good to see your comment on my blog. Glad all is going well with you .. I see by reading you've had a few health issues but you're a fighter and a strong gal and glad you're still up everyday with those beautiful animals and taking care of them. You're their shepherd ! Yes buying antiques can be an addiction .. that's why I had to turn it into selling them so I get the enjoyment of buying without keeping it all but I must admit I have my fair share ..LOL ! The weather here was cold last week well not cold but cold compared to what's it's been. Then we got a wave of hot weather the last 4 days .. and tomorrow should user in a bit of cooler weather again. Guess we'll hold out and enjoy these last days of warmth before the cold winter is upon us .. though I do love sitting in the house next to the hearth wrapped in a warm blanket or tucked in my slippers enjoying that season as well. We are loving being back in MO. It's such a different world here from the west coast. A world we much prefer..even with it's downsides. We're still looking for a house. Just not much on the market and we need a house with specific space for our work and it just hasn't presented itself yet .. so we are patiently waiting on the Lord to work and show us home sweet home. It will happen. I seriously thought I had been taught all the patience one woman could learn guess what I'm learning it some more .. that's o.k. God's got a plan. Take Care and you will be in my prayers! Sending you a big Hug and many blessed days ! Sara

About Sandra Bennett

BLOG – I help folks find, buy, live and increase income on their farm, homestead or ranch. Even if it’s a half-acre lot in town. On this blog you’ll find what you need for…

MY STORY – No, I was not stealing! The beginnings in 1989.

MONEY – Make, Save, Spend Wisely

FARM – Find, Buy, Operate, Increase Income

HOME – The Farm and Homestead Heart

ENCOURAGEMENT – Yes, You CAN!

Welcome!  I’m Sandra, at one time shepherd of the largest flock of colored wool sheep and herd of American Curly horses in Virginia. My homestead roots go deep; as far back as 1654 my Daddy’s people came to the New World for a better life and in May 1995 Thistle Cove Farm was established in the southwest Appalachian mountains of Virginia.

In 2005 the blog began as a journal documenting our handmade, homemade farm life (restoring house, barns, fences, pastures) animal husbandry (hogs, Agatha and Esmeralda The Fabulous Angora-Pygmy Goatini Sisters, rare breed sheep (Carly, Harry, Sophie Shetland triplets who lived to be 22+ years), American Curly horses, black Angus steers, alpacas, cats and dogs), farmhouse kitchen, etc.

Now, since Dave’s death (my beloved husband), I’m taking a new direction and documenting my University course, “Increasing Farm, Homestead, Small Business Income” taught in the USA, Russia and eastern Europe.  It’s said when an old person dies, a library is gone forever and seeing as how I’m north of Medicare, I’m doing a brain dump as quickly (haha) as a older, slow woman can go.

While I do have a Uni degree (VCU when they still had a great program), the useful stuff has been learned at The School of Hard Knocks. I’m not a doctor, vet, lawyer, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, etc. so always consult a professional.
