“Sometimes you ask God for something and you don’t know what you’re asking.” ~ Mahalia Jackson ~
“Man finds it hard to get what he wants because he does not want the best. God finds it hard to give because He
would give the best and man will not take it.”
~ George McDonald ~
“Praying, we usually ask too much. I know I do. Sometimes we even demand. I think I am learning to ask enough for the moment–not for the whole year, utterly veiled in mystery; not even for the week, the month ahead; but just for today.
Jesus said it all when He told us to pray: ‘Give us this day our daily bread.’
That bread is not only material, it is spiritual; in asking for it, we ask for a sufficiency of strength, courage, hope and light. Enough courage for the step ahead–not for the further miles. Enough strength for the immediate task or ordeal. Enough material gain to enable us to meet our daily obligations. Enough light to see the path–right before our feet.” ~ Faith Baldwin ~
“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.” ~ Joseph Scriven ~
(The first Bible verse has always amazed and given me courage. Five sisters, changed the course of history when they approached Moses and asked, “Why…? Prior to their question, only males inherited and, to be sure, heads turned, mouths dropped open, vile mutterings were heard and all because those courageous five sisters asked, “Why…”. May we all be so courageous when we approach God and ask with pure motives.)
If you have a name for this week’s prayer list, let me know.

You have many wonderful quotes on your blog. I was browsing through some of them, and I especially liked what you said about "home." Home is special to me; it's a safe haven where God provides everything I need; it's a peaceful place I'm thankful for every day.
Thank you for visiting today.

Pslam 83:18 and he above all will come to know my name….
Praying through him calling out his name is part of our spiritual food, amen!
Such a beautiful ministry to calling upon God our Heavenly Father to meet our daily needs, yes dear what e can do for him is how we put God first in our lives he then banks on that and shows up for us when he sees fit to meet our needs.
You just calm yourself enough to hear his sweet voice and all our prayers are met.
A much needed biblical story here reminding us to walk in faith.
I adore your beauty and pray for all you need in strength, and a peace come over your daily-ness in all you must accomplish on your farm, and your journey with Gad as to where he takes you.
Thank you for the prayer list, I am adding sweet Lin and a beautiful friend Renee who need the comfort of his healing hands to touch them.
Thank you beautiful, an abundance of blessings your way my dear,
Thank you for your beautiful visit to my place, a reminder to visit a friend I don't make it over often enough and so should.
Thank you for a strong reminder of the word.
Xoxoxo
Blessings my dear.

Wonderful! O,Sandra!
This one is my LOVE:
"I used to ask God to help me.
then I asked if I might help him.
I ended up asking God to do His work
through me."

I think it foolish for me to not Ask in prayer . . .
God will not Know unless I Ask . . .
And then for me to Listen . . .
Watch . . .
Perceive . . .
In Patience . . .
For Grace . . .
The Timing ceases to be just mine, once I Ask . . .

Anita, I agree…cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you. Sometimes I think I might over ask the same thing – please Lord, I need a buyer for the farm to recently…Please, Lord, let me win the lottery and keep the farm and buy another place to live for the winter…nah, not really because I'd have to buy a ticket…but I do think about it…lol. I tend to go ahead, mainly because there's so much to do…especially now, before frigid weather arrives.
Thank you so much for saying…that means so much. God bless you and keep you this week.

I have read that quote by Faith Baldwin at least 5 times now. I'm not sure I agree we can ask too much, because we are told to bring everything to Him in prayer. But I see myself in the trend to go beyond today with my needs. And I see worry and anxiety creep in there too, as if God wasn't quite enough. I'm going to print out that quote, something I don't do to often. it brought to mind this verse…Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. I love these posts. They make a difference…thank you.
