Sabbath Keeping

“Be still and know that I am God.”
~ Psalm 46:10 ~

“Everything takes time.
Bees have to move very fast to stay still.”
~ David Foster Wallace ~

“Whenever there is stillness there is the still small voice, God’s speaking from the whirlwind, nature’s old song, and dance.” ~ Annie Dillard ~

“Being still does not mean don’t move.
It means move in peace.”
~ E’yen A. Gardner ~

“I have often wondered whether especially those days when we are forced to remain idle are not precisely the days spent in the most profound activity. Whether our actions themselves, even if they do not take place until later, are nothing more than the last reverberations of a vast movement that occurs within us during idle days.
In any case, it is very important to be idle with confidence, with devotion, possibly even with joy. The days when even our hands do not stir are so exceptionally quiet that it is hardly possible to raise them without hearing a whole lot.”
~ Rainer Maria Rilke ~

“Listen to the murmur of water and you’ll hear Mother Nature.
Listen to the stillness beneath, and there you’ll find God.”
~ Donald L. Hicks ~

“Don’t just do something; stand still!” ~ Sandra ~

“The sound of ‘gentle stillness’ after all the thunder and wind have passed will {be} the ultimate word from God.”
~ Jim Elliot ~

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
~ Romans 12:2 ~

Memory is a poor servant; please let me know if you’ve a name for the prayer list.

Dearest Thistle, Sandra of the Lord's blessings – this post is, as if the Holy Spirit speaks to me directly through your hands and thoughts!

    By the way: Psalm 46, 10 is my weddings-sentence (I married Karl-Heinz in 1980)!

Thank you for taking the time to find these wonderful quotes…I have copied several into my quotes word document. I had hoped someday to have a nice leather bound book of them, but I use the computer for now. These posts are some of the most relaxing things I read. I love them. I thought of you today too…we are putting our house on the market soon. I hope both of our places find loving new owners. I haven't even told all of my family yet!

My favorite moment these past few days . . . is to sit on the screened porch . . . and
LISTEN . . . the songs are brilliant.

    Love this quote . . .

Being still is great reminder, as busy as you are – when you get still do you fall asleep (from the woman who has been known to drop off asleep almost any of the moment)
Thank you as always for lovely Sabbath post

Some times I listen for God and there is nothing, it frightens me. I can remember
coming out of church and really feeling
close to God. Now I wonder if he is avoiding me.I know he is there, but why do I feel so empty? I do good deeds, I say prayers. Alright I missed Church Sunday, but I was in such pain I was considering driving to the ER. Pulled my back out. Sandra, love your post.
