Patrice, Everyday Ruralty, is hosting Chats on the Farmhouse Porch #113…I don’t know how she does it week after week, monthly after month, but here are this week’s questions and my answers.
1. Ar you doing any crafts or DIY projects now? – Yes, I’m knitting hats, mostly for children and for the hunters in the valley. Most of the hunters are also farm labor and I like to make sure they have blaze orange atop their heads. A lot of my hats are blaze orange with little green stems…iow, pumpkins! Like in the photo above.
2. If I could snap my fingers, I’d make ____ for dinner. – I adore seafood but only have it once or twice a year. I’d love to have shrimp scampi with rice pilaf, nice Caesar salad and creme brulee for dessert followed by a tot of B and B.
3. What author would you like to have lunch with? – Esther, of the Old Testament, comes to mind as does Rosamund Pilcher. Mrs. Pilcher was graduated from the Harvard Business School as well as University of Cambridge before she began writing fiction.
4. I wanted to tell all of you folks at chats ___________ – like Patrice, I really enjoy visiting with participants and seeing their responses. A lot of times, I meet new bloggers and have thoroughly enjoyed making new blog friends.
5. ___________ has been on my mind a lot lately. – The unbelievable way our veterans are being treated; the unbelievable way the government has shut down memorials, businesses, and anyone else who stands in the way of the petulant, pissy, pompous person residing in OUR house. Nixon was impeached for a LOT less; what’s it going to take with this clown?

Rosamund Pilcher is one of my favorite authors, too. I think she died, didn't she? I also loved Maeve Binchy, but she recently passed away, too. Makes me sad. Totally agree with #5, btw.

What a nice thing to do, knit hats for farm workers. Now they can't be mistaken for deer as they work around the farm. Maybe a few pumpkin hunters might stalk them though.

Petulant and pissy, an absolutely perfect description! Also love your choice of Rosamund Pilcher. I have enjoyed a few of her books but my favorite was a collection of short stories. I think it was called The Blue Bedroom. I think I'd choose Louisa May Alcott as the author to visit with. Lied her books since early childhood.

I love shrimp scampi and I like to make it. Frozen shrimp is a pretty good buy and making it at home is the best anyway — especially compared to eating it "out." I like scampi over pasta. Yum.

These are always such interesting posts. Fun to think about numbers 2 & 3. And another thumbs up to #5. The thing that really irks is that the only things they shut down are what affects the little people. You know they're all still getting their full paychecks plus benefits!!!

I enjoyed your answers. I would seriously love to sit down and have a cup of tea with you. The dinner sounds wonderful. We don't have seafood very often since it's pricey. If we do, we only have it when it is just family. We have our farm interns during the week. Today I have five extra folks for mid-day dinner. Thankfully I love to cook.

Another yes on number 5. I think we need to take everyone out of office next election. Country is in such dire straights financially and yet their campaign coffers are just full of money. Take their campaign funds and balance the budget with those dollars.

While I won't be cooking that dinner, we will be going out for it, sans the B & B, and probably the creme brulee as well. Today is my son's 15th birthday and our tradition is to go to the birthday persons restaurant of choice, in this case, Red Lobster, so it will definitely be seafood 🙂
