“Honor your father and your mother
so that you may live long in the land
the Lord your God is giving you.”
~ Exodus 20:12 ~
“It is a wise father who knows his child. But maybe it’s a very wise child who takes time to know his father.” ~ anonymous ~

“My daddy, he was somewhere
between God and John Wayne.”
~ Hank Williams, Jr. ~

“I just owe almost everything to my father [and] it’s passionately interesting for me that the things that I learned in a small town, in a very modest home, are just the things that I believe have won the election.” ~ Margaret Thatcher ~

“I cannot think of any need in childhood
as strong as the need for a father’s protection.”
~ Sigmund Freud ~

“Any man can be a Father but it takes someone special to be a dad.” ~ Anne Geddes ~

“He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived,
and let me watch him do it.”
~ Clarence Budington Kelland ~

“A man’s children and his garden both reflect the amount of weeding done during the growing season.” ~ anonymous ~

“In the baby lies the
future of the world.
Mother must hold the baby close
so that the baby knows it is his
world but the father must take him to
the highest hill so that he can see
what his world is like.”
~ Mayan proverb ~

“My grandfather always said that living is like licking honey off a thorn.”
~ Louis Adamic ~

“A father is always making his baby into a little woman.
And when she is a woman he turns her back again.”
~ Enid Bagnold ~

“My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, “You’re tearing up the grass.” “We’re not raising grass,” Dad would reply, “We’re raising boys.” ~ Harmon Killebrew ~

“Our Father which are in heaven,
Hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
~ Matthew 6:9-13 ~

"Licking honey off a thorn" – I like that! So sorry I haven't been by – I'm getting ready for surgery and have been keeping things to a minimum – your quotes, well, I so enjoyed them!

We don't celebrate Father's day here, but I think it's a very good idea! I am very thankful to God for fathers! :o)

Of course The Lords Prayer is my favorite, but Clarence Budington Kelland has wise words, too! We can talk all we want, but it's the living that really teaches.
Thanks for sharing all these terrific quotes, Sandra!

    Hello Sandra:
This is the first Fathers' Day that we have had without either of our fathers and so this is a particularly poignant occasion. We are, of course, reminded so wonderfully by you, dearest Sandra that we do have the blessing of a Father in Heaven.

You are so kind to keep our names on your prayer. We feel blessed to have had many prayers answered but we do so appreciate the comfort of knowing that you keep us close in your heart as, of course, we do for you.
