1. In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
Long ago.
2. Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him
Nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away
When He comes to reign:
In the bleak mid-winter
A stable-place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty,
Jesus Christ.
3. Enough for Him, whom cherubim
Worship night and day,
A breastful of milk
And a mangerful of hay;
Enough for Him, whom angels
Fall down before,
The ox and ass and camel
Which adore.
4. Angels and archangels
May have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim
Thronged the air,
But only His mother1
In her maiden bliss,
Worshipped the Beloved
With a kiss.
5. What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a wise man
I would do my part,
Yet what I can I give Him,
Give my heart.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Beautiful post. I love the sheep with snow on their backs. We are sporting the same look here this year.
I like your photo of your flock :o)!
Thank you for this post!!
I love this song, Sandra- such beautiful words!
Is there any way you could email me a little bit larger version of the picture at the first of this post? I think the sheepies laying in the snow is sooo gorgeous- I would love to use it as the desktop picture on my computer!
Sandra – this is my all-time favorite Christmas hymn. And I sing it every year out in the pasture as I pull inch-thick disks of ice out of the round 40-gal. water troughs. Earth stood hard as iron – water like a stone. We don't often get the snow on snow, but last year we did, and it was lovely… like God's grace covering all our sins with soft wooly blanket of forgetfulness…
Praying for you and Dave,
xo
Cindy
Cindy, I feel your pain…although I'm leaving the troughs icy because there are un-frozen waterers on this new farm. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Just beautiful, Sandra!
Lifting the two of you up in prayer….You are never alone.

I'm not sure how I could be any later unless I just didn't show up at all…lol! Thank you Toyin and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
