Veterans Day 2010

by Sandra Bennett
TCF

11 Nov
 ~ ready for winter ~
Today is Veteran’s Day, formerly known as Armistice Day and set to honor the end of WWI which took place November 11, 1918. In 1954 the word “Armistice” was struck and the word “Veterans” added to honor all those who had fought in all USA wars.
“In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.”
~ Jose Narosky ~

There are 21 million living veterans and the last living WWI US soldier is Frank Buckles, who served in WWI. Next year, Mr. Buckles story will be told: Pershing’s Last Patriot. Thank you, Mr. Buckles, and thanks to all our veterans; I’m proud of each and every one of you, especially those in my family. Thank you for serving!

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink.
But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love.
If you must steal, steal away from bad company.
If you must cheat, cheat death.
And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.
~ unknown ~

Rebecca Writes is hosting, for the fifth year, a November of gratitude. My grateful heart includes all our veterans, past and present. Without you, there would be no freedom in the USA.

Blessings ~ veterans ~ fire wood ~ loved ones ~

Grace and Peace,
Sandra
