Sabbath Keeping

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” ~ I Peter 4:8-9 ~

“There is no hospitality like understanding.” ~ proverb ~

“When hospitality becomes an art, it loses its very soul.” ~ Max Beerbohm ~

“Who practices hospitality entertains God himself.” ~ proverb ~

“It is a sin against hospitality, to open your doors and darken your countenance.” ~ proverb ~

“There is no beautifier of complexion, or form, or behavior, like the wish to scatter joy and not pain around us. Tis good to give a stranger a meal, or a night’s lodging. Tis better to be hospitable to his good meaning and thought and give courage to a companion. We must be as courteous to a man as we are to a picture, which we are willing to give the advantage of a good light.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.”
~ John 15:14 ~

LindaSue – how true, even the smallest acts.

Kathy – you're welcome and glad it was helpful. We're all on this journey together.

Star – so true, we all are blessed well beyond our deserving.

Shona – glad it was helpful and thanks for visiting Thistle Cove Farm.

Deborah – I'm glad the photo was pleasing to you.

Angie – thank you so much for visiting Thistle Cove Farm and I do remember your WWWine tour; it was delightful. Unfortunately, your website link isn't working so I couldn't visit.

Kathy – I agree, all that matters is our hearts when we're giving hospitality, not the size of our home. A cup of water in Jesus name…

I really do love these verses about hospitality!Hospitality is so undervalued and wrongly defined in our culture. Hospitality basically comes down to being truly welcoming to company and strangers and offering generously of our food and beverage and home. The quality and size of our home does not matter when it comes to true hospitality~ ever! The heart of a home , not the physical abode,IS the home.

    Sandra,

Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I took your class at Concord a while back and just came across your business card in my "Wild Wonderful Wine Tours" portfolio. I really enjoyed that class and often remember how you told us to be sure to observe the sabbath by resting on Sundays. 🙂

I'm glad to see that Thistle Cove is still going strong!

    Regards,

    Angela Blair

Lovely post all about blessings, which we should always count because we all have more than we think we have.
    Take care.

To reach out from ourselves, to give hospitality to another – we are submitting our pride, our selfishness, our self-centered to God. When we give of ourselves, it dimmly reflects what God has given to us in numerous blessings and in His Son, Jesus. Thank you, Sandra for a timely message for what I have been dealing with a lot lately – submission to God and service to God and others. May God Bless. Take care, from KY.
